Speculative Worlds Research Collective invites you to participate in the 3rd annual Summer Lab: Exploring Sensorial Landscapes and Walking Practice. The Summer Lab series brings together postgraduate and early-career researchers, practice-based researchers, and artists to collaborate on world-building and making over two days to imagine alternative pasts and potential futures.

For Summer Lab 2024, we will be taking a walk. Inspired by the work of artists, activists, and researchers of walking as a method to ‘re-imagine the built and natural environment’ (InspiralLondon.com), this year we will be exploring the sensorial landscapes of Southeast London. The theme speculates on the potential of experiencing and re-imagining the world as otherwise when conceptualising the urban sensorial landscape in harmony with the other-than-human.

We have worked hard to ensure the event is free and, in return, we ask participants to commit to submitting a short reflection on speculative thinking and its place in their work after the event.

Participation is free, but places are limited for this event. We are particularly interested in a diversity of thinking and identity - we welcome participants from a range of contexts and with experiences from around the globe.
