Event Details

2019 marks the 60th anniversary of the annual Spectrum Conference! Please join the Rochester Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) March 24-26 as we celebrate this diamond anniversary. The theme is "Remember Yesterday. Celebrate Today. Plan for Tomorrow."

We’ll be taking a brief trip through 60 years of Technical Communication, appreciating what we’ve learned along the way, and sharing best practices to prepare for the future.

Sunday afternoon the conference begins and is focused on leadership challenges and best practices with presentations and workshops by experienced STC community and international leaders. It is designed for anyone interested in improving leadership skills, including current and future leaders. This year, Leadership Day includes a workshop to help attendees look at current and future professional goals.

Sunday evening a networking dinner/reception in a beautiful gallery with a diamond anniversary theme offers time to mingle with conference presenters, chapter leaders, and attendees.

Monday the conference day begins by inspiring continuous development with keynote speaker and author Toni Ressaire who will share her path from docs to bots and might influence a possible turn in your career path, too. Following Toni is a full day of learning and networking with presentations, progression sessions, demos, and lightning talks by industry experts. The day includes a continental breakfast, awards luncheon, and afternoon refreshments. There also will be a post-conference after party in the evening.

Tuesday there are several optional half-day and full-day workshops to choose from. Lunch is included in workshop registration for those staying for the day.

For more details on the conference including the detailed schedule and presenters, see the Spectrum website.
