Featuring special guest speaker Mark Henry Johnson who will be sharing with us his valuable insider knowledge and experience.
Actors - What the showrunners are looking for regarding supporting roles (plus some surprising advice regarding your headshots. This bit will give you a huge leg up on your competition)
Writers- Mark will give you the latest info on writing for TV as opposed to writing for feature films.
Producers- Mark will share his long journey of getting his original story idea through the cutthroat world of TV development, and discuss the important details that helped him beat the odds!

Marc Henry Johnson is the Producer and Creator of the HBO dramatic series, THE DEUCE, Executive Produced by David Simon and George Pelecanos and starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal. He is an Executive Producer for the concert film/documentary entitled SOUNDTRACK FOR A REVOLUTION, with music by The Roots, Jos Stone, Wyclef Jean, Richie Havens, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Mary Mary, and John Legend. Other Executive Producers include Danny Glover. This film was an Audience Favorite at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival, an Official Selection for the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival, and was shortlisted for an Oscar for Best Feature Documentary. This film aired on PBS’ prestigious American Experience series in May 2011.
Mr. Johnson is a Co-Producer on BROTHER TO BROTHER which won the Dramatic Special Jury Award at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, was nominated for four Independent Spirit Awards, and three Gotham Awards. This film aired on PBS’ esteemed Independent Lens series.
In 2004, Mr. Johnson Directed and Executive Produced the PBS series COLORVISION, a showcase of Asian-American, African-American, Latino, Pacific Islander, and Native American short films. Daisy Fuentes is the series host. Lisa Ling, Marc Anthony Thompson (a.k.a. Chocolate Genius), Dan Ho, and Kate Rigg are field correspondents: and Producer for the Sundance Channel production, THE FIRST AMENDMENT PROJECT: POETIC LICENSE, directed by Mario Van Peebles and featuring Amiri Baraka.
Also for television, Mr. Johnson arranged for the financing, production, and distribution for the Peabody Award winning, A HUEY P. NEWTON STORY, created by Roger Guenveur Smith and directed by Spike Lee-- and broadcast on Starz and PBS. In 2000, Mr. Johnson produced Bravo’s Emmy Award nominated THE AWFUL TRUTH WITH MICHAEL MOORE and co-produced PBS’s A LOVE LETTER TO NEW YORK, featuring Joy Behar, Heavy-D, Tommy Tune, Tricky, and Gordon Parks.
His first TV writing and producing credit is on the six-hour TBS documentary PIRATE TALES, hosted by Roger Daltry. Other television producing credits include programs for PBS, Sundance Channel, The Discovery Channel, Logo, German VOX-TV, South African Broadcast Corporation, and Trinidad and Tobago Television.
Marc Henry Johnson is a member of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Directors Guild of America (DGA). His sits on the board of the Jazz Foundation of America and an alumnus of Cornell University.

Matt Weinglass is the Director and CEO of SHERWOOD PLAYERS PRODUCTIONS, an innovative and unique production company, specializing in multi-platform services for content creators and filmmakers with a strong community backbone. Matt has over 20 years of directing and acting experience. He wrote and directed his first feature film, Into the Void, a sci-fi action thriller starring Autumn Reeser (Entourage) in 2000. He also is the lead instructor of the Sherwood DIrectors Course, an eight week quarterly Workshop for first time AND experienced Directors and Actors.
Matt was the lead Producer of the multi-award winning feature documentary Tupamaro: Urban Guerillas (2019), Executive Produced by Ed Asner, which won BEST FILM AWARD at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and was recently acquired by ARTE Network. Matt received BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR from the Lucky Strike Film Festival for his performance in the award-winning horror comedy Garden Party Massacre (2018) on Amazon and can be seen in the Netflix original movie Bright (2017) with Will Smith.
