Event Details

Description

Speciation Day is an all-day event centered on the substantial strength in speciation studies at Cornell, Rochester and Syracuse universities. Researchers from these local institutions and a small number of invitees from elsewhere will present 15 short seminars which provide a focus for the day’s activities, which will also include plenty of time for discussion and viewing posters.

Therefore, Speciation Day provides a local forum for those involved in speciation studies.

Seminars

Allen Orr (Rochester)
T.B.A.

Nuno Ferrand (Porto)
The genomic architecture of incipient speciation in mammals: insights into the basis of reproductive barriers between subspecies of European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)

Marcus Kronforst (Harvard)
Adaptation and speciation in tropical butterflies

Richard Glor (Rochester)
Speciation in Anolis lizards

Richard Harrison (Cornell)
The language of speciation

John Jaenike (Rochester)
À la recherche d’espèces perdu or, genomic remnants of extinct Drosophila

Divergence population genomics of the Drosophila simulans clade

Mollie Manier (Syracuse)
Resolving mechanisms of conspecific sperm precedence in Drosophila

Daniel McNabney (Rochester)
The genetic basis of reproductive isolation in the Drosophila virilis group
