COURSE OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this conference, participants should be able to:

• Review the management of shoulder instability in the young athlete.

• Understand treatment recommendations for physeal fractures of the proximal humerus.

• Update on current concepts for management of pediatric clavicle fractures and AC joint injuries.

• Understand the history of hockey

• Understand the current state of hockey in Arizona

• Comprehend the biomechanical forces of the game of hockey

• Comprehend the equipment used to play the game of hockey

• Identify common injuries of the head and neck in hockey

• Identify common injuries of the upper extremity in hockey

• Identify common injuries of the lower extremity in hockey

• The participants will be able to identify the location, causes and preventative measures for Plantar Fascia injuries

• The participants will be able to identify the location, causes and preventative measures for Peroneal tendon injuries

• The participants will be able to identify possible stress fractures of the foot and common locations for these and when further imaging should occur.

• Identify history and physical exam consistent with hypermobility


PROGRAM CREDITS

• Discuss management of pain and disability in hypermobile athlete

• Discuss proactive approach to reduce recurrent injury and promote self-awareness in the hypermobile athlete

• The participant will be able to identify the tenets of the Osteopathic philosophy and principles that guide treatment.

• The participant will identify the proper conditions and patients that would benefit from Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT).

• The participant will be able to identify various techniques in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and the rationale behind those treatments.

• Identify different types of concussion

• Develop return to learn prescriptions

• Distinguish between return to activity and return to play

• Learn screening tools to identify concussion symptoms
