Event description

Description

Special Session on Future Network Architecture for AR/VR and 360 Video Multimedia Distribution - Net-AR/VR 2018

Within the 14th International Conference on Signal Processing and Multimedia Applications -

SCOPE

This session will present new and innovative results on network architecture and protocols to better support emerging multimedia applications such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR). Applications like AR/VR will require even more bandwidth, shorter round-trip times, and better Quality of Service altogether. In order to provide such support, the network will have to evolve. This session investigate what type of architectural support would assist the delivery of AR/VR applications at the network layer. Also considered are new routing and transport protocols, new caching policies, new mobility mechanisms, new functions at the mobile edge of the network, post-IP network architectures such as Information-Centric Networks, naming of AR/VR data for ubiquitous access, etc.

TOPICS

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • AR/VR
  • Network Architecture
  • Immersive Video Streaming
  • Future Internet Architecture

SCOPE

The purpose of SIGMAP 2018, the International Conference on Signal Processing and Multimedia Applications, is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested on information systems and applications in the context of Signal Processing, including theory and practice in the field of telecommunications, image, video, audio, biometrics, etc., and Multimedia Applications related to representation, storage, authentication and communication of multimedia information. The signal processing field, when combined with multimedia information encompasses a large number of research topics and emerging applications.
