Event description

Description

Coffee farming families around the world face enormous challenges, putting them, and your delicious cup of coffee at risk. Gender inequities in coffee farming households and communities underpin these challenges, putting coffee farming women, men and youth under even greater pressure. Luckily the issue is taking more prominence in the coffee industry and among consumers who are starting to get informed and take action.

Gender in Coffee – A Documentary offers an intimate look at coffee farming throught the lense of gender equity. Join us in Amsterdam for a special film screening at the beautiful Queen Maxima Hall at the Royal Tropical Institute. The film follows the path of coffee from a smallholder farmer household in Chiapas Mexico into the roasters and cafes where it is enjoyed. It offers an intriguing and eye-opening look into an issue of critical importance to farming women, their families and communities, and the supply chain as a whole.

This event is held in conjuntion with the "We Make the City" Festival and the World of Coffee Conference and Exhibition.

The film screening will be followed by a panel of coffee industry and development experts who will discuss the issue and what's being done to address it. The audience is invited to ask questions and engage in the topic.
