When & Where
Special Olympics is an international 501(c)3 organization that strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people by providing sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports. Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Our athletes find joy, confidence and fulfillment -- on the playing field and in life. They also inspire people in their communities and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.
Special Olympics Montgomery County conducts training and competition in 18 sports at various venues within the county, serving over 1,200 athletes last year. The programs are carried out with the 100% volunteer efforts of the management team, coaches and other volunteers. All training and competition opportunities are provided free of charge to the athletes and their families, enabling everyone to experience the benefits of Special Olympics that extend well beyond the playing field.
