Event description

Description

As part of our "Together We Rise" oral history and performing arts project, we are hosting a special student-led Black History Month assembly at Community High. Help us carry the school integration story forward from the 1960s into the 1970s!

Join us in celebrating the history of the Brookland Park area and supporting local students as they creatively reinterpret some of the major sentiments expressed by residents who attended Richmond Public Schools during these decades. The assembly will close with a facilitated conversation.

*Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to check-in so that we can begin on time* Bring your printed ticket or have your ticket pulled up on your phone to check-in on the day of the event*

We are grateful to the leadership, administration, staff, and students at Community High for making this event possible as well as the residents who participated in our interviews and conversations. You are the heroes of this story!

This program is supported by a grant from Virginia Humanities.
