Instructor Bios

Dale Ludwig is the Founder and President of Turpin Communication. Since 1992, he and his partners have developed methodologies that challenge much of the conventional wisdom in the field of communication skill development. Whether he’s working one-on-one with executives or groups of presenters, facilitators and trainers, Dale (1) focuses on The Orderly Conversation® that must take place in every situation, (2) acknowledges the Default Approach that individuals bring to the communication process, and (3) helps communicators develop the skills they need to engage listeners in a productive interaction.

Dale has a PhD in Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is the co-author, along with Greg Owen-Boger, of two books, The Orderly Conversation: Business Presentations Redefined and Effective SMEs: A Trainer’s Guide to Helping Subject Matter Experts Facilitate Learning. He is a frequent blogger and is also the author of the white paper “Getting Past 101,” available at www.turpincommunication.com. In addition to being one of Turpin’s lead instructors, Dale is our Chief Learning Architect when tailoring learning engagements for our clients, and he holds the Bates ExPI™ (Executive Presence Index) coaching certification. In his spare time, he serves as the President of Turpin Cares, Turpin’s philanthropic arm that serves the homeless and food insecure on Chicago’s south side.

Greg Owen-Boger is the Vice President of Turpin Communication. Schooled in management and the performing arts, Greg brings a diverse and entrepreneurial set of skills to the organization. He joined Turpin in 1995 after leaving his acting career behind and quickly worked his way up. He now serves as a communication trainer and executive coach for Turpin’s largest clients. In a typical month, Greg might bounce from training presenters to coaching executives to helping salespeople tell more compelling stories. He might help someone get more comfortable in front of a camera using a prompter. His work also includes teaching facilitation and helping people prepare to present at conferences. He is as comfortable communicating in a virtual environment as he is in live face-to-face situations.

Along with Dale Ludwig, Greg is the co-author of two books, The Orderly Conversation: Business Presentations Redefined and Effective SMEs: A Trainer’s Guide to Helping Subject Matter Experts Facilitate Learning. Greg is a popular speaker and blogger and makes frequent guest appearances at conferences and on a variety of external blogs and podcasts. He is among many thought leaders who contributed to Master Presenter: Lessons from the World’s Top Experts on Becoming a More Influential Speaker.

Greg was the 2015 President of the Chicagoland Chapter of the Association for Talent Development, and he holds the Bates ExPI™ (Executive Presence Index) coaching certification. In his spare time, he is the Executive Director of Turpin Cares, Turpin’s philanthropic arm that serves the homeless and food insecure on Chicago’s south side.
