Description

"Speak Up for Your Art"
DVAA Third Thursday Salon Series

March 21st, 7 - 8:30pm

Good speaking skills and techniques are essential for success in any career. As an artist, you are called upon to talk about your work. Gain confidence in your public presentations, and get you on your way to a more fulfilling career. Because it's all about...that voice! Following up on an earlier workshop on “Speaking up for Your Art,” come explore how you can take it to the next level. Are you ready with your elevator pitch? Can you sum up your experience and vision as an artist? What if someone asked you, tell me about your art? It can be a challenge to be concise and focused in the moment. We’ll practice in small groups, and then give you a chance to present what you’ve prepared to the whole group. We’ll talk about relaxation techniques, body language, verbal skills and more, so you’ll come across just the way you want as an articulate advocate for your art.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Sharon Eisenhour is a broadcaster, interviewer and communications teacher with over 25 years of experience in the Philadelphia area. She's a popular adjunct professor of broadcast performance, writing, and coaching classes at Temple University. She has coached major market media talent and high-level corporate presenters (Shire Pharmaceuticals, Sepracor, etc.). Sharon has been on the air at WHYY radio and television, WFLN and WRTI, and is a voice-over artist heard on TV commercials (Kimmel Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art), industrials, arts narrations, books-on-tape, and corporate phone lines.

Sharon Eisenhour is a member of DVAA on behalf of her late brother, David Meade Walker. She has entered and won placement for some of his art with us, and continues to show his work while working on a book about him.
