SPE Mid-Continent Luncheon Meeting

Wednesday, October 25, 2017 — 11:20 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Location: The Summit Club, 30th Floor, Banquet Room
Speaker: Chad Roller, Mid-Con Energy
Topic: "Waterflood Developments"

Description
Mid-Con Energy acquires, develops and operates producing oil and natural gas properties principally in the mid-continent region with a focus on secondary recovery (waterflood) projects. The talk will cover a number of recent waterflood developments undertaken by Mid-Con in Northeast Oklahoma, Southern Oklahoma, and the Eastern Shelf of the Permian basin. Specific attention will be given to the historic Cleveland field in Pawnee County, Oklahoma. The Cleveland field was discovered in 1904 and has produced ~50 MMBO. A redevelopment project was undertaken to waterflood a thick bypassed pay zone in the Cleveland formation resulting in a ~700 bopd increase in production. The acquisition of core from the field was critical to identifying bypassed pay and the selection of a development concept to address subsurface complications that impeded a number of previous unsuccessful waterflood attempts in the Cleveland formation. In the Eastern Shelf, significant vertical drilling activity prior to the commodity price collapse revealed secondary potential in numerous green and mature fields. Mid-Con’s recent grass roots and redevelopment waterflood projects and associated challenges will be reviewed.
