You are invited to the inaugural Adolescent Health Conference sponsored by Connect, an adolescent health initiative at the Mary Black Foundation and Spartanburg School District Consortium to Improve Adolescent Health. Hear from experts on topics customized to Spartanburg County teens, learn about their needs, and meet the community partners who serve these youth.

Topics for this conference include:

  • Understanding Erin's Law, minor's rights, and consent laws in South Carolina
  • Mental health supports for youth and families in Spartanburg
  • Serving LGBTQI+ youth and combating adultism
  • Out of school time opportunities for youth
  • Developing rapport with youth
  • Trauma informed apporaches in providing sexual health education/services
  • Providing adolescent-friendly clinical services
  • Increasing interaction in evidence-based interventions
  • Authentically connected referrals to increase motivation to access care
  • Supporting families with teens involved in the Department of Social Services and/or Department of Juvenile Justice
  • Adolescent substance abuse and effective strategies to prevention
