About this Event
Please note tickets are for the Royal Greenwich residents only. You must bring along proof of address to the event site as well as your ticket.
Please only book the allocated amount of 6 tickets per household. We will be monitoring the registrations and will be in touch if there are multiple bookings.
Giant baubles, glittering reindeer and sparkling icicles will transform the park into a magical wonderland bringing Christmas cheer to the whole family. Discover the nutcracker trail with hidden letters for you to collect as you stroll through the fairy lit trees. Collect all the letters to spell a festive word and win a prize. Don’t forget to wear your wellies!
Round off your magical evening with a festive hot chocolate or mulled wine available to purchase at the end of the trail.
The winter light trail is free for all residents, but to keep you safe and manage visitor flow, you will need to book a time slot to come along.
There are a limited number of tickets available. If you book a ticket and can no longer make your slot, please cancel your ticket so that someone else can enjoy the festivities.
Sparkle in the Park is wheelchair accessible on tarmac paths and plastic trackway with some inclines.
Event Times:
Gates open at 4pm, last entry into the event is at 7:45pm and gates close at 9pm.
COVID-19 REGULATIONS
- Due to COVID-19, this event is restricted to Royal Greenwich residents. You will be required to have your Eventbrite ticket with you as well as proof of address. You will only be admitted to the event within your allocated time slot. We appreciate your assistance in keeping our staff and visitors safe at this difficult time.
- Please follow government guidelines at all times during your visit and contact us to cancel this booking if:
-You exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19.
-You have been told to self-isolate.
-You are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.
-You have recently (within the last 14 days) travelled to an area with restrictions in place either in the UK or abroad.
- Please note the following points:
- Face coverings are recommended for your visit and we ask that you use hand sanitiser upon entry to the site and when using the toilet facilities
- You must bring your own pen if you want to do the nutcracker trail.
- Please maintain social distancing at all times and stay 2m+ away from other groups.
- You will be required to give contact information when booking your ticket. This is for test and trace purposes.
- If using public transport to get to the venue, please follow the government guidance on face coverings whilst travelling.
- If you show any symptoms after the event, ensure you get tested as soon as possible. If the test is positive please contact the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Tests can be booked online through NHS testing and tracing website https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-for-coronavirus.
- All bookings are non-transferable unless the event is cancelled due to COVID-19, This is an all-weather event.

What is the light trail?
The trail follows a one-way system on a dedicated route around Avery Hill park. Where you will discover beautiful lighting features, lighting installations and a nutcracker trail.
The nutcracker trail
The nutcracker trail is free but you MUST bring along a pen or pencil to fill in your trail sheet.
Your child will receive a gift for completing the trail at the exit to the event.
Tickets
Tickets are for the Royal Greenwich residents only. You must bring along proof of address to the event site as well as your ticket.
You must arrive within your booked time slot. Take as long as you need to complete the one-way route, but you cannot re-enter the trail. To safeguard all staff and visitors, you will have to queue outside on entry, please be prepared in case of inclement weather.
Ticket bar codes will be scanned on entry please have them ready on arrival.
Tickets must be pre purchased on this event site. There will be no entry without a valid ticket to the event.
Tickets are limited for each time slot to ensure social distancing.
No dogs permitted, except for guide dogs.
You can currently book up to six tickets, however, you will be expected to follow the most recent government guidelines at the time of the event. Up to date guidelines are available at www.gov.uk/coronavirus
Event times
The trail will be open from 4pm with last entry at 7.45pm.
Entrance
The entrance to the event site is off Avery Hill Road by the corner of Bexley Road.
Food at the event
We will have food stalls where food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks can be purchased. These will be accessible at the beginning and end of the lights trail. No seating will be provided.
We ask that you do not bring your own food or drink and that you support the local traders at this event.
Parking
There will be no dedicated parking at the event. We encourage residents to arrive on foot or by public transport where possible.
Toilet facilities
Portable event toilets will be available within the food area and will be accessible at the beginning and end of the trail. We ask you to use these when passing them where possible, rather than double back and break the one-way system.
Facilities for people with access needs
The pathways for the trail are on park pathways as well as a custom-built plastic pathway. There are some slight inclines but they are wheelchair friendly.
There will be some moving light effects but no strobe lighting.
Accessible toilets will be provided.
Accessible parking will be directly outside the entrance gate on Avery Hill Road.
