Description

Oxana Mikhailoff and Vassily Primakov first met more than 25 years ago. Both acclaimed pianists, their musical journey started in Russia at the Moscow State Conservatory, where they were both destined to discover their professional paths and love for music while studying under legendary professor, Vera Gornostaeva.

Early in their musical careers, they seemed to be speaking a language of their own, a language of music that only they could understand. This developed into a richness that continues to inform their performances today.

Vassily Primakov was recently called “a pianist's pianist. He is a giant of the keyboard.” (Deseret News, Salt Lake City). Since the release of his recording of the Chopin Piano Concertos, Vassily Primakov has been hailed as a pianist of world class importance. Gramophone wrote "Primakov's empathy with Chopin's spirit could hardly be more complete.”

Oxana Mikhailoff was hailed in a recent review by Jon Sobel as "a titan of the Romantic Piano Literature.” Of her playing, Vladimir Feltsman said "...(Oxana Mikhailoff) is a mature and accomplished musician...Her playing has character, imagination, and is poetic. She has a strong personality and stage presence."

Now, Oxana and Vassily are not only friends and colleagues: they are starting a new and exciting concert series at Union Arts Center in Sparkill, NY (Sparkill Concert Series). The inaugural concert features Oxana Mikhailoff performing Rachmaninoff’s Sonata No.1 op.28, while Vassily Primakov will perform Chopin Sonata No. 3 op. 58. To close this very special gala event, they will gather their forces to perform Rachmaninoff Suite op.11 for four hands.

Ms. Mikhailoff and Mr. Primakov combine their talents in an effort to make even more beautiful music. They appreciate the wonder and the majesty of this art form, and they want to communicate that appreciation to their audiences.
