Event description

Description

In partnership with Toronto Public Health's Investment in Youth Engagement grant around a harm reduction approach to tobbacco use, Spark is going to be hosting a 4 part nutrition series. The series will focus on food skills, including a grocery store tour, how to read and select food based on food labels, cooking meals together, and other health topics including topics around tobacco use, and niccotine replacement therapy. Each evening will include a group game or activity outside in Barbara Hall Park.

In preparation for this series, we will also be hosting a training session with Toronto Public Health staff who will prepare any participants in leading subsequent sessions in the series. If anyone is interested in attending the youth leader training session, please register for March 30th's session.

All of these session will have space for folks to drop in, but as we are planning for meal preparation, we would like to get an estimate number of people who will be attending in advance of the workshops.

Workshops include:

March 30th, 2017: Youth Leader Training Session - Gain skills to co-facilitate remaining Healthy Living Series

April 6th, 2017 - Session 1: Grocery Store Tour, and Hands on Food Skills

April 27th, 2017 - Session 2: Healthy Eating on a Budget, and Introduction to NRT

May 4th, 2017 - Session 3: Hands on Food Skills - Healthy Snacks, and Quit Kits/NRT

June 8th, 2017 - Session 4: Hands on Food Skills, and Follow up Session
