Description

University of Nebraska Omaha’s (UNO) College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Foreign Languages, Master of Arts in Language Teaching Program, and Office of Latino/Latin American Studies (OLLAS) presents the eighth annual Creative Writing Contest in Spanish, which is open to all fifth through twelfth grade students in Nebraska. For participants in grades five through eight, criteria for submission includes developing a narrative inspired by one of Joslyn’s artworks.

Join us at Joslyn on Thursday, September 28; 5-7pm for a FREE, drop-in event for contest participants, and their teachers, family and friends! This community event will provide a scavenger hunt to discover the twelve selected artworks for the contest. Conversation prompts and short writing activities will help participants brainstorm and generate ideas that may be helpful to develop a contest submission!

Teachers — Join your students in this writing adventure! Two 30-minute workshops will offer strategies for writing fiction and suggestions for guiding students through the creative process in supportive way. The first 20 teachers to sign up will receive a Joslyn teaching poster at the event!

Submissions due by October 18th. Contest winners will be announced on November 1st!

No need to bring your ticket for admittance; drop-ins welcome.
