End of day, suggested group dinner, night about town - Overnight Madrid

Madrid - The capital and largest city of Spain. The population of the city is roughly 3.3 million and the entire population of the Madrid metropolitan area is calculated to be 6.271 million.  While Madrid possesses a modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look and feel of many of its historic neighborhoods and streets. Its landmarks include the Royal Palace of Madrid; the Teatro Real (Royal theatre) with its restored 1850 Opera House; the Buen Retiro park, founded in 1631.  The nightlife in Madrid is undoubtedly one of the city's main attractions. Tapas bars, cocktail bars, clubs, jazz lounges, live music venues, flamenco theatres and establishments of all kinds cater for all tastes and ages.

Puerta del Sol.  This plaza is the heart of Madrid and one of the busiest places in the city - a hub for the local transit system, a favorite meeting spot for locals, a visible area for festivals or political demonstrations, and a opportune location for tour guides, street performers.

Plaza Mayor.  Perhaps the best known plaza in Madrid, this impressive square is now one of the main stops on any tourist visit. Originally built outside the city walls, this enclosed square has played host to bullfights, markets, symphonies, tournaments and executions; Today it is ringed with cafes and restaurants.

The Palacio Real (Royal Palace) is an enormous palace, one of the biggest in Europe, with scorching plains of concrete around it.  El Retiro Park is the main park of Madrid, the perfect place to take a rest during a sunny day.  Optional Activity: Catch a Flamenco Show

4-star Hotel Madrid Riviera:  A 5-minute walk from Puerta del Sol and its Metro station, the hotel is located in the center of Madrid: There is a range of cafes, restaurants and bars at Puerta del Sol and in the streets surrounding the Plaza Mayor, a 5-minute walk away.  Madrid’s Royal Palace and Gardens are less than 1 km away.  The spacious, air-conditioned rooms have modern décor and wooden floors. It includes free Wi-Fi, flat-screen satellite TV and a laptop safe. The stylish bathroom includes toiletries and a hairdryer.

Sunday, August 26 - Madrid to Seville
After breakfast, free morning to play as you wish.  Our suggestion: Optional Bike Tour of Madrid’s Green Cyclist Ring, a bike trail that circles the city along 60 kilometers / 39 miles.  As we ride, we will be able to discover Madrid’s social and urban landscapes.  At normal speed, this could be achieved in 3 hours, but at any time, we could decide to leave the trail and enter the city to visit the traditional Sunday flea markets.  After returning the bikes, we will have lunch in central Madrid and then head back to the hotel to pick up the bags and checkout.

Afternoon transfer to Seville, evening check in at our 4-star Hotel Derby
Perfectly located to explore Seville, this modern hotel is in the Plaza del Duque, in the heart of Seville’s charming old quarter. Each of its rooms come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen satellite TV and double-glazed windows.  Hotel Derby is a 10-minute walk from the Cathedral, the Giralda and the pretty Santa Cruz district. It also offers easy access to buses and to the AVE High-Speed Train Station.  Derby’s rooftop terrace offers wonderful views over Seville’s famous sights. There is also a social lounge with armchairs.  Mediterranean, continental and English-style buffet breakfast is served at the Bar Derby. A wide range of restaurants can be found within 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel.
End of day, suggested group dinner, night about town - Overnight Seville

Seville / Sevilla - The capital of Andalucia and the cultural and financial centre of southern Spain. A city of just over 700,000 inhabitants.  Landmarks - The Cathedral of Seville was once judged the third largest church in the world after Saint Peter's in Rome and Saint Paul's in London.  The Real Alcázar is a beautiful palace in Mudéjar (Moorish) style, built in the XIV Century by Pedro I the Cruel. With its myriad rooms, extravagant architecture, lavish gardens with many courtyards, ponds and secrets to be explored, it is a fascinating place to visit.

Monday, August 27 - Seville to Gibraltar (UK)
Late morning transfer to La Linea de la Concepcion/ Gibraltar. Check in at our hotel: La Linea by Marriott***
After hotel check in, we will head into Gibraltar:

Gibraltar is a British overseas territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula at the entrance of the Mediterranean. It has an area of 6.8 square kilometres (2.6 sq mi) and a northern border with Andalusia, Spain. The Rock of Gibraltar is the major landmark of the region. At its foot is the densely populated city area, home to almost 30,000 Gibraltarians and other nationalities.  An Anglo-Dutch force captured Gibraltar from Spain in 1704 during the War of the Spanish Succession.  The Rock of Gibraltar is a monolithic limestone promontory and is 426 m (1,398 ft) high.   The Rock of Gibraltar was one of the Pillars of Hercules and was known to the Romans as Mons Calpe, the other pillar being Mons Abyla or Jebel Musa on the African side of the Strait. In ancient times the two points marked the limit to the known world, a myth originally fostered by the Phoenicians.

In the old town you can find many shops selling arts and crafts, and from the Mirador de San Nicolas there are spectacular views of the Alhambra. Saturday, September 1 - Barcelona
After breakfast, City Tour of Barcelona: There is certainly plenty to see:
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain, it is today one of the world's leading tourist, economic, trade fair/exhibitions and cultural-sports centres, and its influence in commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world's major global cities.  Main sights - The Barri Gòtic (Catalan for "Gothic Quarter") is the centre of the old city of Barcelona.  Many of the buildings date from medieval times, some from as far back as the Roman settlement of Barcelona.  Catalan modernista architecture (related to the movement known as Art Nouveau in the rest of Europe), developed between 1885 and 1950 and left an important legacy in Barcelona.  Several of these buildings are World Heritage Sites. Especially remarkable is the work of architect Antoni Gaudí, which can be seen throughout the city.  His best-known work is the immense but still unfinished church of the Sagrada Família, which has been under construction since 1882.
End of day, suggested group dinner, night about town - Overnight Casa Dynamico, Barcelona
