Event description

Description

Brown University's Space Innovation Conference/Workshop

38 years ago was 1980. There were no laptops, no cell phones, Apple was a couple of guys with a useless product idea, and there was no Space Shuttle (STS).

38 years from now will mark a century since Sputnik was launched; a century since mankind began its journey of space exploration. The theme of Space Horizons is what will the space industry look like 38 years in the future. This depends on what new capabilities we create, our vision, our imagination, and our courage, as Robert Kennedy said, "To ask why not?"

4 Key Frontiers in Tech for Space

• Synthetic Biology - sustainable ecosystems in space?

• Robotics and Artificial Intelligence

• New roles for humans in space (hybrid human - machine exploration)

• Silicon gram-class satellites
