Space Capone w/ Soul Track Mind & The Conglomerate
Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 7:00 PM - Friday, October 12, 2012 at 2:00 AM (COT)
There’s an open question as to whether it’s harder or easier for smooth white dudes to make inroads in R&B music. If you ask Robin Thicke, it’s not so easy. If you’re following the career of Nashville’s Space Capone, you might think it’s a breeze. The local press is smitten with Capone’s highly danceable, ’70s-style grooves and thrift store retro style, and the national media is starting to catch the vapors too, as Capone was recently featured on TBS’ entertainment program Sound Check. “…It became clear that these guys were on a mission to funk. With one initial kick of the bass drum, the outdoor patio had been instantly transformed into a massive dance party that had every aggie out there grooving and moving…” – The Battalion. “The Conglomerate,” an explosive 6- piece Funk band from College Station, Texas has been dishing out invigorating, high-energy sets since May 2010. The group began as a collection of musicians who met through a common passion for jazz. After a period of experimentation, blending jazz principles with funk and rock influences, the members finally found the fresh, exciting sound they had been looking for and The Conglomerate was born. Complete with fat horn lines and vocals, captivating solos, and rock solid beats, The Conglomerate has a trademark sound that everyone can get into.
