Description

Join bestselling author Tamera Alexander for the SOUTHERN MANSION READER WEEKEND in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tamera's bestselling novels set at BELMONT MANSION, BELLE MEADE PLANTATION, and CARNTON have drawn visitors from all over the world to these historical sites. Now Tamera invites you to join her for a very special weekend in which you'll not only tour these sites with her—and gain behind-the-scenes insights about her novels as well the histories of the real people who lived there—but you'll step back in time and dine with her and other readers onsite.

Talk about a fabulous weekend getaway with girlfriends! Or your book club! Or an early Christmas "getaway gift" for you and your spouse!

On Friday evening, you'll banquet in style in the grand salon at Adelicia Acklen's Belmont Mansion in Nashville and then tour the home.

On Saturday morning, you'll breakfast in the historical carriage house at Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville and tour the home and grounds.

On Saturday afternoon, you'll tour the McGavock’s home at Carnton as well as the largest privately held Civil War cemetery in America, then enjoy a scrumptious Southern dinner.

At each site, Tamera will share about the histories of the homes and the people who lived there, as well as her own faith journey as she penned her bestselling Southern novels. Curators and architectural historians will also speak about the homes and time period. And of course, we'll have time for Q & A!

Ticket price includes:

  • Guided tours at each mansion (Belmont Mansion, Belle Meade Plantation, and Carnton)—and behind-the-scenes glimpses with Tamera
  • Dinner at Belmont in the grand salon . . . Adelicia style!
  • Breakfast at Belle Meade Plantation in the historic carriage house
  • Tour of the old Harding Cabin (circa 1798, the cabin where Uncle Bob lived while at Belle Meade)
  • Dinner at historic Carnton in Franklin
  • Tour of the Carnton cemetery (on Carnton premises)
  • Sessions with Tamera at each mansion, as well as presentations by curators and architectural historians
  • Keepsakes from each historic mansion
  • And a special reader surprise gift just in time for Christmas!

The Southern Mansion Reader Weekend officially begins Friday, November 30, 2018 at 5:30PM with a reception and dinner at Belmont Mansion and concludes that evening at approximately 9PM (following the tour and time for shopping in the gift shop).

Saturday morning begins at 8:30AM with breakfast at Belle Meade Plantation in the carriage house and concludes at approximately 12:30PM (following the tour of the house and the old Harding Cabin, and of course, time for browsing the gift shop)!

Attendees will have two to three hours of free time to explore beautiful historic downtown Franklin (or other sites in Nashville), then we'll meet at 3:30 that afternoon at Carnton in Franklin for tours of the cemetery and home, time to visit the gift shop, then a scrumptious Southern dinner and the final presentations and time together. The evening will conclude no later than 8:00PM.

If you love history—especially Southern and Civil War history—this weekend is for you!
