Event Details

A regular meetup for folks from across the region who are interested or involved in the WordPress and BuddyPress platforms, as bloggers, users, site administrators, designers or developers.

This month

Each month we aim to bring together a heady mix of WordPress 101, Questions & Advice, hands-on practicals, project insights and reveal some secrets of WP rocket science.

Handy agilist-manager and epiGenesys all-star, Chris Murray is back showing us how to secure the WordPress admin area, including going through the rigours of getting a certificate.

Open source CMS and developer evangelist Andy Robb will be giving us the lowdown on WordPress for Windows:

- for developers: setting up a WebMatrix development environment for prototyping and testing WordPress sites on Windows

- for content writers / clients: using Windows Live (Writer) to update WordPress

- for mobilistas: using WordPress for Windows Phone 7 for smartphone-based blogging

Steve Dupree and Paul Marshall have been experimenting with community sites and are going to share their experiences of What They Wish They Had Known About BuddyPress (Before They Got Sacked from Diva Creative).

There'll also be time for some WP-Q&A ...

And somebody mentioned cake ...

It's fast, it's loose. And when the dust settles we'll head to the pub for rants & banter over ales and pies.

Keep up-to-date and follow the developments by joining in the online group.  From there you'll soon be able to help determine the line-up by offering up and voting for sessions you'd like to see.

The GIST Lab is a community collaboration space operated by The GIST Foundation in partnership with the Showroom Workstation.  Find directions here. Doors open around 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
