We come together to learn, share and grow as a community. Together, we do more, go farther, are more strategic, make a more profound and lasting impact. At the Philanthropy Summit, we “unite to unleash the power of philanthropy.”

RENOWNED KEYNOTES:

  • Michael Moody, Ph.D., Frey Foundation Chair for Family Philanthropy, Cultural Sociologist & Author, 21/64: Generation Impact: How Next Gen Donors Are Revolutionizing Giving. Michael will offer specific ideas and implications for working closely with your next gen, providing best practices and highly practical takeaways for engaging and supporting next gen donors as they figure out their philanthropic roles and prepare to launch their own giving efforts. Learn how the next gen learn best, and who or what influences the development of their values and interest in—and approaches to—philanthropy. Learn from groundbreaking research on the most relevant themes, data, quotes, and findings.

  • Kristen Corning Bedford, President & Founder, philanthroBE: A Generous Heart: How Feminist Philanthropy is Changing the Culture of Giving. The field of philanthropy has been evolving from acts of doing for to doing with, but large systems of power remain intact. Doing philanthropy differently means examining our own privilege and power in order to dismantle systems of oppression that traditional philanthropy upholds. Using feminist principles of solidarity, reciprocity and agency provide us with a lens to change how and why we give. This new wave of giving is taking hold with both new and seasoned philanthropists, encouraging us to question the systems themselves and commit to a more profound relationship with our “love for humanity.”

  • T'wina Nobles, President and CEO, Tacoma Urban League, Lunchtime Keynote Address. The Tacoma Urban League, founded in 1968, is devoted to empowering African Americans and other disenfranchised groups to enter the economic and social mainstream. Ms. Nobles is a graduate of The University of Puget Sound and has her Master of Arts in Teaching and a degree in U.S. Politics. She is also a School Board Director of University Place School District, TEDx speaker, a ParentMap Superhero for Washington State Families, the recipient of the University of Puget Sound Young Logger Service Award, City Club of Tacoma Dennis G. Seinfeld Emerging Leader Award, and the Tacoma Public Schools WASA Community Leadership Award.

  • Jordan Beckingham, Ben B. Cheney Foundation

  • Kim Fisher, CFP, SVP and Wealth Advisor, Wells Fargo Private Bank
