South Gate Workshop on the Pee Dee River
Thu, May 4, 2017, 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM EDT
Hi sweet flower friends,
Hope you can join Myla Butler and myself on Thursday, May 4th from 9:30 am-4:30pm for a day of foraging, floral design class, food and fun.
The event will be held in Georgetown, SC on the Big Pee Dee River. The property, Guendalos, belongs to Myla and Gene Butler and extended family and is the perfect house for us and is right on the water. Formerly a part of the Guendalos Plantation, a historic area, the river house lies between Chicora Wood Plantation (1732) and Prince Frederick Church (1734).
We will begin the day foraging greenery, branches and even weeds while taking a quick stop to see the beautifully haunting Prince Fredrick Church. We will return to Guendalos, where I will demonstrate floral design techniques. Then, each student will create her own garden-style arrangement from an array of foraged finds and flowers, some locally-sourced. A photographer will be on hand to capture your work!
As a group, we will create a tablescape and enjoy a lunch of locally-sourced foods. We will wind down the day with dessert and a toast to our new community of flower friends and perhaps one last flower treat.
All you need to bring is an open mind, a pair of boots for foraging and a grand intention! Everything is included except transportation to the event. The vessel and blooms will be yours forever; clippers will be provided. Feel free to bring an apron if you like. You will go home not only with a beautiful vessel with a romantic-styled arrangement, but also with the confidence that you can do this again—either at home or in another beautiful venue! After a day by the river you may even feel like you have had a mini-vacation!
Attendees' comments from previous South Gate Design floral workshops:
"a class, offered by the talented Harriet Charles, but so much more than a class! Along with the instruction and a gazillion beautiful flowers to choose from, she provided a serene working environment with beautiful music, delectable eats and treats, and great company!"
"...beautifully executed from beginning to end,"
"...an excellent teacher..."
"...a day I will always remember....good for the soul."
Due to the perishable nature of flowers and the logistics of the event, no refunds or exchanges for future workshops are given. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket for the May 4th workshop to someone else. If for any reason the workshop is cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
Hope to see you on the river!
