South Dakota Festival of Books
September 26-28, 2014
Each year thousands of people converge on the annual South Dakota Festival of Books, a weekend-long event that features more than 50 well-known authors participating in book signings, presentations, panel discussions and readings. Author presentations are separated into six tracks: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s/ya, history/tribal, and writer’s support.
Over the course of 11 festivals, many distinguished authors and cultural figures have attended, such as Sherman Alexie, Marilynne Robinson, Ted Kooser, Dave Eggers, Sonia Monzano, Annie Proulx, Quincy Troupe, Susan Power, Louise Erdrich, Pete Dexter, and Ivan Doig; NPR hosts Carl Kassel and Neal Conan; and publishing industry representatives including Judy Hottensen, John Glusman, and Paul Cirone.
Most Festival events are free and open to the public. However, tickets are required for writing workshops and meals. After placing your order on Eventbrite, please PRINT and BRING your ticket(s) to the event entrance.
