South Beach Shark Club Screening & Fundraiser
Event Information
Description
In 1972, along the shores of Miami Beach, a group of teenage beach bums and local salt rats sought to define themselves by catching the biggest sharks they could land on rod and reel. Inspired by the leadership of the most flamboyant and passionate angler on the beach, Rene de Dios, the South Beach Shark Club was born.
Rene De Dios and the South Beach Shark Club has received awards from the Miami International Film Festival, the Stock Island Film Festival and the Miami New Times. Now, with your help, the filmmakers can preserve this piece of Miami history by turning it into a feature-length documentary.
Join the cast and crew Friday, November 2 at the Marseilles Hotel for the Miami Beach premier of Rene De Dios and the South Beach Shark Club. The evening will also feature new footage from the feature film, live music, a silent auction, complimentary food from Bodega Taqueria y Tequila and free drinks. All proceeds will go directly to the making of the feature-length documentary.
