Description

What

A hands-on, two-day workshop sponsored by Arkansas’s oil and natural gas community where teachers will learn about this vital industry and how it has changed the face of Arkansas as a place for business. Teachers will see technology in action as we take a tour of actual drilling jobs in progress, visit a refinery and a Bromine Plant and hear about regulatory and environmental aspects of the business from state authorities and concerned organizations. Come get the facts about this industry that continues to bring job opportunities, royalty income, tax revenue, and increased business to our state. Those attending will earn approximately 14 professional development hours.

Who

Twenty-four Arkansas 3rd-12th grade Science, Math and Technology, Social Studies, and Gifted and Talented teachers.

When

Tuesday, June 5, at 10 a.m. through Wednesday, June 6, at 3:30 p.m.

Where

Day one will take place at the Museum of Natural Resources, formally known as the Oil & Brine Museum in Smackover, AR. Day two will include an extensive tour between El Dorado and Magnolia. Teachers will be provided lodging at a hotel in El Dorado.
