Event description

Description

Come out and support Syria's next generation with an open-bar event at Mr. Dennehy's! All proceeds from this event will go toward providing scholarships for talented, young Syrian refugees to pursue university in Jordan, through the Amal Foundation.

The event will feature a 2.5-hour open bar, as well as a silent auction featuring prizes from: Duende, Fishers Island Golf Club, Folly, Greenvale Vineyards, Outdoor Voices, and Round Hill Club.

The host committee includes: Biff Parker-Magyar and Katie Parker-Magyar plus Arthur Anthony, Pasha Aziz, Samantha Bird, Elizabeth Quinn Brown, Bess Chapman, Mimi Cushing, Scott Francis, Emily Hottensen, Mary Kate Miranowski, Wells Ross, Helena Sullivan, Medora Wescott, and Eames Yates.

This organization, and its cause, are close to the Parker-Magyar family. Biff's close friends founded Amal, and she serves on the organization's board following two years spent living and working in Jordan. On a visit, Katie, Liz, and Mark had the opportunity to witness firsthand the inspiring perserverance of refugees fleeing the Syrian conflict and settling in Jordan, a new home where, in their first years, they had little access to any formal education. The Amal Foundation supports young Syrian leaders who, in doggedly pursuing their education, seek to serve and build up their communities. For more information on Amal, and some of the talented young Syrians it is supporting this academic year, visit the organization's website or Facebook Page.
