Event Details

Class Description: Many times its the magic to your meals. A great sauce can do amazing things for your palate. Chef Amber will guide you through the process of not only preparing sauces but also great soups from scratch. Lean the difference between a roux thickened sauce and a reduced sauce. You will also learn how to make home made mayonnaise and butter quickly. All of these skills will be used to make two wonderful soups and a tasty Chicken Curry & Shrimp.


Menu: Shrimp Bisque,  Chicken Noodle Soup, Coconut Curry Chicken & Shrimp


Grocery List (per student):

  • 1 1/2 lb Shrimp (per person)
  • 1 lb of Chicken Breast (per person)
  • 1/2 cup Rice (per person Jasmine preferred)
  • 2 Onions (per person)
  • 1 head of Garlic (per person)
  • 1 1/2 lbs of Carrots (per person)
  • 2 bunches of Parsley (per person)
  • 2 Tomatoes (per person - Roma or Vine Ripe)
  • 16 oz of Heavy Cream (per class
  • 3 lg Eggs (per class)
  • 12 oz Oil (per class)

Kitchen Tools (per class):

  • Chef or Santoku Knife, each student
  • 1 large Saute Pan (per 2 students)
  • 1 Cutting board (per student)
  • 1 Rubber Spatula (per student)
  • 1 Plating Spoon (per student)
  • 1 Pair Tongs (per student)
  • 1 Powered Mixer (if you cannot provide please tell the Chef)
  • Dishes to take home your food (if multiple students)

What To Expect:

  • Classes are typically 2 hrs
  • Hands-on classes are limited to 6 students
  • You will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class
  • Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back
  • Chef Amber arrives up to 60 min before class to prep ( there is no charge for this hour)

  • How to make stock and use stock
  • The difference between types of sauces
  • How and Why to Pan Sear
  • How to make a sauce
  • How to make mayo from scratch
  • How to make butter from scratch
  • How to make soup from scratch
  • How to use basic cuts and knife skills
  • How to create a meal

Time: 1hr prep (free) + 2 hrs instruction

Cost: $60 per student
