ABOUT OUR PANEL
Will Thomas is one of the Small Business Specialists at The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Headquarters. He supports the areas of Science & Technology; U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services; the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office; the Intelligence & Operations Office and the Office of Health Affairs. Mr. Thomas was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended Tuskegee University. Mr. Thomas enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, after college. Upon enlistment, Mr. Thomas entered the acquisition field while in the U.S. Coast Guard, and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Thomas retired from the Coast Guard in 2002 after having served 25 years of honorable service. He is pleased to be working with the small business community, in helping them learn of contracting opportunities within the Department of Homeland Security.
Deidre Boone serves as President & CEO of E-volve Technology Systems, Inc. She has a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park. In addition, she performed post-graduate studies in Electrical Engineering at Catholic University and Computer Systems Management at University of Maryland, University College. She is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Owners Presidents Management (OPM 42) Program. She has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology and 15 years of experience in providing Enterprise Resource Management Solutions to the Federal Government. She gained valuable management, sales and consulting experience from companies like Lockheed-Martin, Texas Instruments, PeopleSoft, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. During the past eleven years she has gained valuable experience in owning, operating, and managing a small business in the Federal Government space.
Curtis L. Wilson, Founder and President of Strategic Edge LLC, has been at the center of program management, government contracting, and information technology for over thirty-nine years. He spent twenty-eight years at GSA acquiring practical knowledge of GSA Schedules and government-wide acquisition contracts. As the former Director of the IT Solutions Acquisition Program in GSA’s National Capital Region, he is uniquely qualified to advise companies on the most effective strategies for working with the acquisition process in federal, state and local governments. Mr. Wilson holds a B.A. degree in Mathematics from Indiana University, and a MBA degree in Management from Strayer University. He is a member of the Institute of Management Consultants, and National Association of Government Contractors.
MODERATOR: As Vice President of The Wentworth Group, a private equity firm, Heidi Everett is responsible for the identification, development and growth of investments and key relationships. She works with the CEO to build The Wentworth Group’s operations and programs to fulfill its mission and she leads efforts to further TWG’s organizational strategy development and implementation. Mrs. Everett’s professional experience spans the private, public and nonprofit sectors where she has served as a vital leader in strategy development and organizational change. Her experience in management consulting, while at Booz Allen Hamilton, has included the capabilities of strategic planning, business process re-engineering, business strategy and mission integration, market analysis, operational performance optimization, change management, program and project management and organizational transformation and design. Before her work in the private sector, Mrs. Everett served as an officer in the Air Force. Mrs. Everett received her BS from Duke University and completed her MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. She is a certified project management professional and change management advance practitioner and serves on the Board of Directors for The Stafford Foundation.
