Celebrate the release of a collaborative album of Persian music produced in between Cuatro Puntos Ensemble, Reza Vali and Dariush Saghafi.

About this Event

Be transported into another sound world as you listen to a traditional improvised solo by the world's leading master of Persian santur, Dr. Dariush Saghafi. Then hear the world premiere of a piece for SINGING string quartet by Dr. Reza Vali using ancient Persian and Dastgâh modes. This program celebrates the release of a collaborative album of Persian music produced in partnership between Cuatro Puntos Ensemble, Reza Vali, and Dariush Saghafi and released on the day of the concert via Arkadash Records.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this event will be streamed in high quality from the chapel at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut. Students, faculty, and staff of the University of Saint Joseph are welcome to reserve a ticket to attend in person. Others may reserve a free, virtual ticket. Sounds of Persia is part of our 2020-2021 season "Musicians on the Frontlines," a series of free virtual concerts, talks and community events that explore the ways music creates positive change, and how it is adapting to a new world.

54% of the arts workforce in the United States has been lost since March 2020, making collaboration among organizations vital. Musicians on the Frontlines is presented as a partnership between Cuatro Puntos and the Autorino Center for the Arts at the University of Saint Joseph.
