Event description

Description

Join us to celebrate the closing of the Soundmarks exhibition and sound installation in Aldborough with two guest speakers and an artist Q+A.

The guest speakers will each give short talks on themes around art, archaeology, landscape and place, relating to Aldborough and the Soundmarks project. The artists – Rose and Rob – will then join the speakers for a group discussion and audience Q+A.

Speakers:

Dr. Lesley McFadyen is a lecturer in archaeology at Birkbeck, London. Her research works across chronology and geography, and engages with evidence for the Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age, particularly in Britain, France and Portugal. Key to this is understanding architecture in prehistory, and the history of ideas between the disciplines of archaeology and architecture. She participates in design studio teaching in Departments of Architecture. Themes that she explores are thinking-through-drawing, drawing lines and time, and drawing the materiality of time in materials.

Dr. Jos Smith is an author and lecturer in contemporary literature at UEA. He has published poetry, essays and criticism concerned with landscape, place, ecology and the cultural history of the environment movement. His most recent book The New Nature Writing, was published by Bloomsbury in 2018.
