Event description

Description

Take a moment from the busyness of your day to day with a unique form of relaxation: Sound Healing. Sound Healing uses the power of sound and vibration to restore one's body, mind and spirit to a sense of balance and harmony.

To share this quickly growing practice with all of you, we've invited two artists to relax and re-energize you for the coming winter months using the Handpan and Monolina instruments, in the beautiful, cozy, candle-lit Health Hut space (www.healthhutboutique.com)

We've curated an experience that will begin with a Monolina opening to set the tone, a handpan guided meditation, and an interactive harmony between the artists to close the evening. We'll share some light snacks and herbal infusions. Join us to savour the shortened nights of fall and soak up energy for the weeks ahead with candlelight & aromatherapy to accompany the sound healing.

  • Playing the Handpan is Becca Leah from Soul 7 (www.soul7.ca)

  • Playing the Handpan and Monolina is Donna Wilding (http://www.donnawilding.com)

Additional Information on the instruments:

The instrument family of Handpans is relatively young. The original 'Hang' was invented in 2000 in Switzerland as a synthesis of the Trinidadian steel drum and Indian Ghatam. The handpan, as the name suggests, is played with the hands and fingers. The result: a soothing, uplifting, percussion sound that is an antidote to the busyness of everyday urban life.

The Monolina is an ancient musical string instrument with a series of "monochords". An instant healing sound is heard as it is played. The Monolina may be played on one's body for a soothing and vibrant effect. Typically, the Monolina is strum by hand. The result: a grounding, strumming sound that helps us into the present moment through its sound and vibration.
