Soul Project NOLA; soul, funk and blues from New Orleans
Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM (PDT)
Digging deep into the soulful grooves dug by Walter “Wolfman ” Washington, Grant Green, and Dr. Lonnie Smith, the funky moves of James Brown and Maceo Parker, the old school cool of the Meters and The Neville Brothers, and the feel good fuel of the Crescent City itself, the Soul Project brings New Orleans soul with them wherever they go.
Inspired by the music of the Meters, the Neville Brothers and Galactic, Soul Project has spent more than a decade perfecting the funk-soaked grooves that yield those all-consuming musical moments. Cristian, who honed his chops performing with Walter “Wolfman” Washington during his early days in New Orleans, founded the band in 2002. He proceeded to lead an evolving roster of cohorts over the years before finding himself in creative sync with Will Repholz on bass (Mem Shannon, Dave Jordan), drummer Colin Davis (Groovesect, Gravy), Jeremy Habegger (Hammond B3, Rhodes) and David Ludman (sax).
Soul Project NOLA is part of the Dayton NOLA Summer Series Presented by Abita Brewing Company and Yeah You Right Music Inc. Tickets to all three Summer Series Concerts may be purchased by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
