Bowling Competition 2016
The event will be hosted at two locations this year, USA Bowl in Dallas (Oct. 24-Oct. 29) and AMF Lanes in Garland (Oct. 31-Nov. 4). This competition will touch the lives of approximately 3,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Volunteer Shifts / Check-In:
Times include checkin & training
Weekday Shifts: 9:00am-1:30pm (volunteer training starts at 9:30)
Saturday Shifts: #1: 8:00am-11:30pm / #2: 11:00am-2:30pm / #3: 2:00pm-5:30pm / #4 5:00pm-9:30pm
Lunch is Not provided for day of event volunteers! Please eat before, plan to eat afterward, or bring money to eat at the venue. No outside food and Drink are allowed other than sack lunches.
Must be 15 years old or older to volunteer alone
Volunteers between 8-14 years old must be accompanied by an adult (4 to 1 ratio) and will serve as Fans in the Stands to cheer our athletes on!!

VOLUNTEER ROLES & EXPECTATIONS:
Needs will vary according to sport, we expect volunteers to be flexible to meet our competition needs. Roles will include...
Lane Monitor - Oversee a bowling lane and ensure the correct athlete is bowling in the correct order, lane troubleshooting, recording scores and reporting to headquarters, high-fiving and cheering
Souvenir Support/Sales - Assist development team in souvenir orders and sales each day of the competition. If interested please contact Steve Schuh directly via email: firstname.lastname@example.org (Help is primarily needed on October 31)
Family Hospitality Room - Saturday Only Need small group to cover!
VOLUNTEER SERVICE HOURS:
For those needing confirmation of service hours, at the completion of your volunteer shift you may report back to volunteer registration for signatures or confirmation forms.
Or contact the area office after the competition
- If you are affiliated with a large group (15+), business/corporation, sponsor, and/or organization, you can (1) send link for volunteers to register individually and/or (2) register for your group entering the estimated amoung of volunteers planned to attend.
- Please be sure to give us a heads up that your group is coming by emailing volunteer coordinator at email@example.com.

The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
