Description

Tony Carroll has invited the Stewards to join him at his property in Marlin for a day of outdoor fun with kayaking/canoeing, learning about the great outdoors. In addition to a morning canoe/kayak trip down the beautiful Brazos river, we will have lunch hear from two great Texas Parks and Wildlife speakers: Biologist Kevin Mayes and Game Warden Michael Ferguson.

Where: Carroll Brazos River Property
*This property does not have an address. We will meet at the Falls on the Brazos Park at 9:00 AM and drive over to the Carroll place from there- it’s about 1 mile away. Address to the park: 644 FM 712, Marlin, TX 76661. It’s about a 1.5 hour drive from downtown Austin.

Canoeing / Kayaking
If you have a canoe or kayak, please bring your own. We can help make arrangements for those who don't have one but please let us know in your rsvp. We will be launching several miles up river and floating down to the Carroll property. The water portion trip will take about 2-3 hours. We will boat down the river, then eat lunch on the banks.

Snacks for the trip and lunch will be provided.

Be sure to bring

  • sunscreen,
  • a hat,
  • a change of clothes (or more),
  • a cooler with your favorite beverages,
  • a canoe or kayak and a life-jacket (please note with rsvp if you are bringing your own or if you will need to borrow)

Road Trip Bonus!
Every cool road trip needs a side-stop. On your way back to Austin, make sure and stop at Green’s Sausage House, 16483 TX-53, Temple, TX 76502. Some of the best meats, kolaches, and pies you have eaten eaten! Tony grew up eating there once a week and highly recommends it.

Possible Camping Overnight - It is possible to stay overnight, but it is primitive camping. You will need to bring your own gear and let Tony know you are interested in camping overnight.
