Event description

Description

The Problem:

  • Millions of people around the world have little to no access to health care
  • Medical providers in developing world countries work without gauze, gloves, suture, surgical instruments, bio-tech equipment
  • U.S. healthcare sends an estimated 6 billion tons of useable medical supplies and equipment to landfills each year

The Solution:

  • Collect useable medical supplies and equipment before they hit the landfills
  • Distribute useable medical supplies and equipment to providers worldwide

Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach collects medical supplies and equipment from hospitals across the Midwest and distributes supplies to improve the health of the poor in more than 87 countries around the world.

Volunteers help sort, count, and package medical supplies in order to prepare them for shipment to partner hospitals. A medical background is not required as training is hands-on. We welcome groups, individuals, churches, schools, and anyone willing to serve!

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be age 13 or older
  • requires standing (no sit-down jobs)
  • tolerance to wareahouse temperatues (dress in layers during colder months)
  • wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing
