Sophia, the feminine wisdom principle, treads a steady path through philosophy, alchemy, mystery traditions and esoteric Christianity. Timeless, and culturally unbound, she walks free of the ossified city states of religion and fanaticism to sow her perennial seeds of revelation in soils beyond territory. Perceiving her as the ‘tincture of illumination’,artist Judith Way will demonstrate the cultural significance of bringing art and faith together in the veneration of Sophia.

Judith Way is an artist, poet, writer and educator who has recently completed a MA in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred. Her project Sophia of Canterbury, garners the some of the insights from the programme into an artistic endeavour which seeks to find the presence of Sophia within the cultural institutions of learning and faith within the UK. Her recent writing, featured in Re- enchanting the Academy; a publication dedicated to enlivening education into sacred remembrance, focuses on poetry, wisdom traditions and the cultural heritage of visionary poetry that is indigenous to the UK.
