Description

Twin Cities Wine Education is proud to present a special night of timely information

Sonoma: Travel, Wine Regions, Fires, and the future
The one year anniversary of a night we will never forget

October 9th 2017 is the day Sonoma changed. Late in the night, fires that started over the mountain range near Calistoga in Napa Valley quickly swept over the hills and engulfed the northern part of Santa Rosa, destroying a community and killing many. The images and video were stunning and portrayed devastation of biblical proportions. We awoke on October 10th shocked, fearful, and frantic while worrying about beloved wineries in Napa and Sonoma.

Yet … most of the wine country was untouched by the fires.

In this new class, we’ll examine the impact of the fires, the exact spots that were hit the hardest, and how communities are rebuilding. We’ll tell these stories in the framework of Sonoma County wine in general, traveling from the coast to the inland mountains, explaining the different terroirs, micro-climates, and what to look for and expect when traveling through the region. New information on fantastic wineries, accompanied by tasting six fantastic examples, will make this quite an evening indeed.

Most importantly, we will show you that NOW is the time to go to Sonoma, for the wines of the region have never been better.

Expect comprehensive maps, cools handouts, tons of travel suggestions, and much more. We will taste six incredible selections from Sonoma County to emphasize the points discussed. You’ll leave an expert on Sonoma County wines and travel!

What is Twin Cities Wine Education?
Twin Cities Wine Education Inc. is an independent wine education company founded in 1998 by Jason Kallsen (Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and Certified Specialist in Wine with the Society of Wine Educators). With no financial ties to any winery, distributor, importer, or retailer, Twin Cities Wine Education prides itself on truly independent education, with no sales pitch for the wines involved. The company’s mission is to build wine confidence while sparking wine curiosity.

Is there wine served at the class?
Oh my yes! Usually six selections (occasionally a bit fewer or more, but we aim for six), all presented in top quality Riedel stemware at the correct temperature and decanted if needed.

What can I expect at a Twin Cities Wine Education class?
We pride ourselves on our independent education, free of sales pitch or distributor influence. Upon arriving you’ll receive the class outline and any handouts and maps relevant to the topic. It’s a great way to meet new friends, for you’ll be seated with other equally curious students. Most classes are approximately two hours, with a short break in the middle.

How many people come to the wine classes?
Some exclusive classes (older vintages, where we only have one bottle of each wine, for instance) are limited to about 12 people. The rest of the classes are based on the space we are in, usually capped in the 30-50 person range.

What is the refund policy?
Full refunds for any reason up to seven days before the event. Within seven days (or after the class) there are no refunds available. Your ticket is fully transferable to anybody over 21 years of age, and there is no need to inform us of the transfer … simply have the new recipient arrive with the ticket in hand or knowing the original ticket buyer’s name.

What other services does Twin Cities Wine Education offer?
We specialize in private wine educational seminars and events, and are fully licensed and insured to present throughout the state of Minnesota in homes and offices. These private events and education can range from two to two hundred people (the average small group event is 10-20 people). We also offer private wine cellar organization services, staff training for restaurants and retailers, and wholesaler/importer sales staff development of not only wine knowledge but also wine business acumen and sales territory management. Reach out to Angela Kallsen (Director of Operations) with any questions on these services: Angela@twincitieswine.com.
