Event description

Description

Our local United Nations Association chapter is hosting a workshop from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 7th to help organizations and activists in Sonoma County get better acquainted with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The event will be centered around working together to come up with local targets for the 17 goals, prioritizing specific demands for our decision-makers on the state and federal level in relation to the goals, and empowering individuals, businesses, and community groups to become champions of the Global Goals. All 193 member states of the UN have agreed to achieve the Global Goals by 2030. These goals encompass every major challenge that we face, including poverty, climate change, hunger, accessibility of education, gender inequality, clean water, loss of biodiversity, and more, as well as the actions that we must take in next 10 years to secure a sustainable future for people and the planet. It is the responsibility of all of us, not just our governments, but us as citizens, community leaders, and business leaders, to work on these goals at the local level.

• How can you or your organization use the Global Goals as an advocacy tool?
• How can your workplace incorporate the Global Goals into its strategic planning and operations?
• When we are demanding action and accountability from our representatives, how can we use the Global Goals to strengthen our arguments?

The event is free to the public. We hope to see you there!
