Event Details

Close to 18 months after the October 2017 wildfires, we are seeing how the traumatic events of the North Bay wildfires can affect our emotional and physical health, social functioning, and overall well-being, both as individuals and as a community. Unresolved, they can also damage our health and limit our potential to rebuild as a community.

Join diverse Sonoma County leaders and representatives to participate in dynamic workshop where you will practice tools for effectively addressing personal and team stress after the fires, network with peers, and learn about an evidence-based program to rebuild a resilient, self-healing, and inclusive Sonoma County.

  • Explore the connections between traumatic events and emotional, physical, and social distress and dysfunction; Practice evidence-based mind-body techniques to relieve stress, heal trauma, and enhance health and well-being.
  • Experience the benefits of coming together and sharing in a group
  • Learn about Center of Mind-Body Medicine’s community-led model for transforming devastating trauma into an opportunity for promoting individual and community healing.

The Sonoma Community Resilience Collaborative will train 300 community members in comprehensive mind-body skill techniques and reach an estimated 8,000 people through workshops and skill groups. This multi-year initiative aims to develop deep local capacity for self-healing and strengthen cross-community relationships. Our vision is to prevent the progression of stress and trauma and keep them from becoming more serious behavioral, physical and social problems.

Learn more about our efforts and how you can get involved by visiting cmbm.org/Sonoma .

"These 11 strangers from multiple generations and countries, were as diverse as my neighbors of 31 years, yet by the end I felt closer and more supported in this group. We can, and will, spread this connectedness across Sonoma County.”

-Bo Greaves, Retired Physician,

Chair Health Action Leadership Team
