Description

Another overnighter for 2020! This time it is Sonoita, AZ (aka wine country).

Join us the weekend of January 17 - 19, 2020 to explore the deep history and scenic trails of southern Arizona’s wine country. You will enjoy the combination of challenging and scenic trails and Arizona history followed by wine tasting of Arizona’s finest wines. The trail rides will range from 4 - 6 hours giving you time to sample Arizona wines later in the day.

This trip will include a visit to the historical ghost towns of Harshaw and Duquesne, breathtaking views from Gunsight Pass area, and exploring various adobe ruins. This adventure will include easy and moderate level difficulty trails.

We will base out of the Sonoita Inn in Sonoita, AZ where various hotels and restaurants are available.

What to expect:

  • Easy, moderate, and difficult level trails through the Arizona backcountry

  • See and experience where Arizona history unfolded that you can’t see from the highway

  • Learn about how the Native American's and early settlers lived

  • Meet new friends who share your love of the outdoors and sense of adventure

  • Catered trail lunch each day (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday)

  • Anyone with an off-road vehicle that wants to seek adventure in the Arizona backcountry

  • 4x4 owners that want to enjoy Arizona backcountry close-up

  • Off-roaders and 4x4 owners that want to meet other off-roaders

  • People new to off-roading that want to get their 4x4 or side-by-side off the pavement


Requirements:

  • Street legal and insured passenger high clearance vehicle (Jeep, Toyota, UTV, side-by-side, etc.)

  • Off-road tires (all-terrain or mud-terrain) are necessary

  • Licensed driver

  • GPS device is helpful but not necessary


TICKET INFORMATION

RIDE TICKETS - This ride is limited to 15 vehicles. Each vehicle is allowed up to four passengers. Each ticket consists of a meal and organizer fee per person and a trail fee per vehicle.

CANCELATION POLICY FOR RIDE TICKETS

  1. Southwest Off-Road Adventures may cancel any trip prior to 45 days before the trip start date, for any reason, and will provide a full refund to participant.

  2. Participant may cancel a trip for any reason with full refund (less Eventbrite fees) 45 days prior to the trip start date. Within 45 days of trip start date, cancelation by participant will be prorated as follows:

    1. 45 - 30 days prior to event start date - 50% refund

    2. 29 - 15 days prior to event start date - 25% refund

    3. Less that 15 days prior to start date - no refund

  3. Although unusual, Southwest Off-Road Adventures may cancel a trip at anytime with a full refund to participant if the weather could possibly present risk to participants, if permits for land use are revoked by the granting party, or if any other natural event would prevent the successful execution of the event.

LIABILITY WAIVER - Liability waivers are required to participate in the event and are available for donwload on the Southwest Off-Road Adventures website (www.southwestoffroadadventures.com/forms/). Failure to return your signed waiver to organizer prior to trip start date will result in your ticket being cancelled with no refund. Organizer does not accepts responsibility for your safety, safety of your passengers, and/or damage to your vehicle during the event. Damage to vehicle, self, and passengers is the sole responsibilty of the driver and/or passenger.

All vehicles must be registered to travel on the highway and be insured per Arizona law.

What should I expect at the Southwest Off-Road Adventures trail ride?

This is what Southwest Off-Road Adventures provides with each trip:

Guided trail ride each day, GPS tracks, our famous barbeque trail lunch each day consisting of hamburger grilled to your liking with potato salad and baked beans, any necessary permits for public and private lands that we use, and daily check-out and check-in to confirm your safe return.

THURSDAY

  • EVENING REGISTRATION: Registration is held from 5pm to 7pm at the meet location.

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

  • MANDATORY DRIVERS MEETING: A brief orientation covers details about the day’s activities and final registration for the day so we can account for all participants at the end of the day.

  • DEPART FOR TRAILS: Immediately following the Drivers meeting participants leave for their guided trail ride. Since the lunch is prepared and served along the route it is recommended that all participant be prepared and leave on schedule.

  • LUNCH ON THE TRAIL: A trail-side lunch is served on the trail. You must be at the lunch destination to get your lunch. Your camp chair will help you enjoy your lunch in the Arizona backcountry.

  • AFTER LUNCH: The trail rides will end at approximately 3pm so that you have time to get back to your hotel and prepare for the evening.

  • DINNER: You may choose the restaurant of your choice for dinner. Dinners are not included with this event.

  • What about overnight accomodations?

Participants make their own reservations at the hotel, RV campground, friends house, etc. of their choice.

How difficult are the trails?

Some are easy while others are moderate. We will start the event with easier trails so that less experienced drivers can learn by watching more experienced drivers. You will have the option of skipping any trails that you are not comfortable negotiating.

How is Southwest Off-Road Adventures different from other trail ride organizes?

We pride ourselves on providing you and your passengers with the most memorable experience possible. To achieve this we keep our rides small so that vehicle don’t get backed-up. Also, you may drive any road legal vehicle you wish on our trips including side by sides. Lastly, we do everything we can to accomodate your needs. Just let us know what you need and we will try our best to help.

What do I need to participate?

  • Any road legal high-clearance vehicle that is four wheel drive. This includes side by sides. Your vehicle should be in excellent condition and off-road tires are necessary.

  • GPS - this trip is guided but having your own GPS is helpful. Most participants utilize a smartphone based GPS such as Gaia GPS but any GPS you can use will work. You are provided GPS tracks for the trails we are going to run.

  • The usual safety items such as plenty of water, medications, spare tire, and a good working knowledge of your vehicle.

Will my vehicle be damaged during the event?

Southwest Off-Road Adventures makes every effort possible to choose routes that are kind to vehicles. Driver decisions while on the trail are the mostly common cause of damage to your vehicle. It is possible that bushes may rub on your vehicle and tall rocks may scrape your undercarriage. While the trails are easy to difficult there is no guarantee that you won’t experience damage to your vehicle. Choosing good lines and good common sense driving will almost ensure your vehicle will not be damaged.

May I bring my pet?

Dogs are allowed but must be leashed at all times while out of the vehicle.
