Sonic Alchemy: Crafting the Future of Percussion
Overview
Sonic Alchemy: Crafting the Future of Percussion
Featuring Electrobones, Khartal & Art of Tabla
Experience the power of rhythm in Sonic Alchemy, a unique hands-on workshop that bridges ancient percussion traditions with modern innovation.
Led by Siddhartha J. Mehta, founder and instrument designer at Surya Sound Temple, this session takes participants on a journey through three distinct worlds of rhythm:
Electrobones – Step into the future of percussion with Siddhartha’s original invention. Learn how it’s made, how it functions as both an acoustic pickup and MIDI trigger, and experience its limitless potential in live performance and sound design.
Khartal – Discover the handmade wooden instrument that channels India’s folk roots. Learn how it’s crafted, the techniques to play it, and how rhythm can flow naturally through your hands.
Art of Tabla – Explore the intricate language of India’s most expressive percussion instrument. Siddhartha will demonstrate classical compositions, rhythmic cycles and techniques that embody centuries of musical tradition.
Participants will get hands-on time with each instrument, experiencing the transformation of rhythm from wood and skin to wire and signal.
Where tradition transforms into technology — and sound becomes art.
