SONGS OF 1970
Free glass of Cracklin’ Rosie (Sparking Rose’) to first 50 ticket buyers!

Friends Productions brings you “Women in Music Series VII”. This concert will benefit Mill Valley Film Festival’s MindTheGap initiative (a pledge to screen at least 50% women-directed films at this year’s MVFF).
1970 is considered “The most pivotal year in music history”. The 60’s had ended with Woodstock. 1970 was the year for last studio albums by the Beatles; Simon & Garfunkel; Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young; and Janis Joplin. The torch was passed to newcomers James Taylor, Santana, Melanie, Carpenters, Chicago, Badfinger, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson 5, Elton John, Anne Murray, Bread, and Tower of Power.
This concert will have the core all-star personnel of last year’s “Songs of Woodstock”:
JoJo Razor, female vocal (SF Airship) showed her versatility last year singing songs of Janis Joplin, Melanie, and Joni Mitchell.
Tom Finch, lead guitar (Big Brother & the Holding Co) showed his skill in playing the licks of Santana and Jerry Garcia.
Kurt Huget, vocal/guitar (Moonlight Rodeo) is the band leader of this endeavor. He is especially adept at singing and playing the songs of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, CSN&Y, Norman Greenbaum, and Neil Diamond.
Michael White, bass (Doobie Brothers, Cold Blood, New Riders of the Purple Sage) is on every band’s wish list.
Peter Penhallow, keyboard (Liddypudlians) is musical director of a Beatles orchestra. He will be especially valuable in the “Let It Be”, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon portions of this show.
& Special Guests!
1970 saw landmark female performances by Joni Mitchell, Carpenters, Linda Ronstadt, Dionne Warwick, Janis Joplin, Supremes, Melanie, Diana Ross, Delaney & Bonnie, Aretha Franklin, Anne Murray, Ike & Tina Turner, Judy Collins, Joan Baez, New Seekers, Freda Payne, Poppy Family.
Other recordings that year were from Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, Quicksilver, Sly & the Family Stone, Guess Who, BJ Thomas, Rare Earth, Kenny Rogers, Hollies, Kinks, Mungo Jerry, Mark Lindsay, Eric Burdon, Derek & the Dominos, Three Dog Night, Sugarloaf, and Edison Lighthouse.
