Lowell Burton originally from San Bernardino, California moved to the Land of Enchantment at age 12. While studying at APS and UNM, Burton realized that singing is his passion in life. His voice, reminiscent of Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye, is one of Albuquerque’s best kept secrets. Active in church choirs throughout the city, Lowell has a mastery beyond his years in contemporary and traditional gospel music and has recently stretched out to use his considerable talent to hold down critically acclaimed principal roles in Rainbow Studio Theater’s stage production of Roots Revival and as a featured singer with one the Southwest’s most popular Funk bands, Fat City. This debut concert, “Songs For My Sister: Introducing Lowell Burton” is an opportunity for Albuquerqueans to have an up close and intimate audience with a young man who is destined to take his place among New Mexico’s all star musicians. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the HELPHOPELIVE foundation for Lowell’s younger sister and biggest fan--she has just undergone a very costly double lung transplant at UCLA in Southern California.
