Danny Glover and Something Positive Inc., the leading Afro-Caribbean performing company in the United States have partnered to mount an extraordinary exhibition that celebrates icons of the local cultural community. The Iconography Series: Celebrating the Female Spirit – Cheryl Byron, will be on view from December 6 through January 1, 2017, at the Brooklyn Public Library Caribbean Literary & Cultural Center (22 Linden Boulevard @ Flatbush Avenue). The exhibition features multiple costumes, accessories, and textiles from the 40-year career of the late Rapso music pioneer and founder of Something Positive, Cheryl Byron.

In celebration of the exhibition, a reception open to the public will take place on Tuesday, December 6, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the library branch.


The Iconography Series is a public art and education project of Something Positive, Inc. This exhibition is made possible with generous support from Danny Glover, Asake Bomani, Mandisa Glover, Materials for the Arts, New York City Council Member Mathieu Eugene, Maxine Alexander & Caribbean Literacy and Cultural Center, Brooklyn Public Library.
