About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Hey friends.

It went so well last time we're doing it again !

One year in with the best live audience in the business and we know it works, so we're back for more! Each week a different guest joins World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker and we share something old, something new, Something Borrowed, and something blue. Sometimes poems, sometimes music, always a good time.

We are well and truly bedded in in our new home which has had a glow up over the summer, and whay better way to celebrate kicking off the new season than returnign to ARK Cliftonville with Special Guest Caitlin O'Ryan

As well as some chat and performance from me and Caitlin, there will be an open mic where you are welcome to come and perform a poem or song (either your own or Something Borrowed (!)

Harry Baker is the World Poetry Slam Champion and champion of the people. His TED Talks have been watched by millions of people and translated into over 20 different languages. He has three books published with Burning Eye and his newest collection, Tender, is out in March 2026 that we will be touring to anywhere that will have him. He loves Margate and bangs on about it so much in his poems someone thought he was Margate Poet Laureate. He didn't correct them.

Caitlin O’Ryan is an actor and poet hailing from Greater Manchester and now residing in London. She has headlined several of London’s biggest spoken word nights including: spitnights, Groove Verse, Poet’s Palace, VERSES x Roundhouse and the international franchise ‘Voices in Power’. She also performs as part of Sofar Sounds and has been commissioned by the likes of the British Heart Foundation, Refuge and Amnesty International.

Her poetry is vulnerable, confronting and extremely relatable. She is set to release her debut poetry collection ‘At What Point’ in August 2025 with Burning Eye (just in time for this gig !).

ARK Cliftonville is Former Synagogue turned cultural space and graciously welcomed us when we needed to find a space bigger than Forts, and now we love it so much they are never getting rid of us.

You are wonderful and if you've read this far you are absolutely my kind of person, so I would love to see you there. As with all my shows there is an option for a free ticket if you can't afford to pay for one in this moment, no questions asked. Please book in advance to settle my nerves about whether anyone will turn up (they always do!) x

World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker is a poet and a maths graduate. He writes about important stuff like hope, dinosaurs and German falafel-spoons. His new collection ‘Unashamed’ was published with Burning Eye in 2022 and after a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe he toured his spoken word show of the same name around the UK in 2022/3. He’s mainly just thrilled to be back on stage where he belongs.
