Monty Mitra
“The Third One Is Always The Hardest”
Monty really has to get moving! His wedding is coming up, and he needs to get a little more involved in the planning. Ok, let’s take a look at the to-do list. Venue booked? Check. Suit altered? Check. Open heart surgery scheduled? Che… wait, what was that third one? This plan was already getting complicated, and he and his fiancé still had to figure out the catering.
Phil Surkis
“There Are 101 Uses For Alka Seltzer, But One Of Them Doesn't Work”
After a 5 year self-imposed exile from society, Phil is invited by his sister to visit San Francisco. He samples some organic green tea. Disappointed by the taste, he returns home to his basement, and plays some avant-garde jazz. Disappointed by the music, he considers revisiting green tea.
Abas Idris
"If you think about it, thinking isn't feeling, you feel me?"
Abas wasn’t worried about the questions Denise might ask him, I mean after all they just met. He liked how easy she was to talk to, and how she laughed at his jokes so he knew they were hitting it off. But then out of nowhere, Denise asks: Do you actually believe that joking about your sadness will make it go away? Do you think your dad would be ashamed of your tears? The very questions petrified Abas. His first thought was, how dare she get so personal so fast? But then again, it is therapy after all.
Thao P. Nguyen
“Just Say No”
For decades the anti-drug campaign D.A.R.E. notoriously failed every kid. All but one. Third-grader Thao soaks in every drop of war-on-drugs propaganda from Officer Dan and immediately puts "just say no" to good use, in every aspect of her life. Cough syrup? No! Flintstone's vitamins? No! Dessert? No! Talking to any stranger? No! Even a new teacher? No! Officer Dan has no clue what to do with his creation.
