Join us in a special service welcoming The Church of St, John Coltrane to St. Cyprian's Church at the corner of Turk and Lyon Streets in the Western Addition/NoPa. Our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Marc H. Andrus, will preside during an evening celebration of candlelit solemnity, joyous music, and authentic Anglican traditions. Our scriptural theme for the evening centers on creating The Peaceable Kingdom in our lives, sacred space , and community. Archbishop Franzo King, Rev. Wanika Stephens, and Mother Marina King of the Coltrane Church will join in the celebration. Leaders and members of St. Cyprian's Church and First united Lutheran Church are planning to join in our welcoming committee. Friends of these four churches, neighbors, and Bay Area residents are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served after the service.
Our theme: The Peaceable Kingdom
Sacred stories tell of the 'peaceable kingdom;' as a time when "The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them." We've chosen this text to reflect our way of life here at Turk & Lyon. Here, different congregations and faiths live and work together in harmony. We hope the way we live out our beliefs helps others find their own spiritual path.
