Mountains Restoration Trust is proud to host the 10th annual Rattlesnake Avoidance Training for Dogs Clinic! Through MRT, a non-profit environmental organization, these funds help to preserve and restore the wildlands of the Santa Monica Mountains. Funds raised support MRT's programs including invasive, non-native species removal, native plant propagation and planting, acquisitions for parkland, and environmental education programs. Thank you in advance for your support and for telling your friends and other dog lovers about the clinic!
IMPORTANT: Your dog must be at six months or older to participate. Training takes about an hour. Read below for details on what your time reservation means, the cancellation and change policy, and info on registering multiple dogs. Please visit our Events page to register for a different location.
PROTECT YOUR DOG!
Do you and your dog enjoy walks, or going on hikes together? Do you live in a rural area or near a canyon? Poisonous snakes bite about 15,000 dogs each year. In Southern California the danger is year-round. Bites can be fatal, and treatment can cost thousands of dollars. By completing a 20 minute, one-on-one training session, your dog could be saved from unnecessary suffering.
Each year MRT hosts an expert dog trainer from High on Kennels, located in San Diego County. Each trainer is highly experienced at training dogs to avoid rattlesnakes. Each trainer is well known for being a problem solver when it comes to difficult dogs.
Our training clinics are conducted in a safe, humane, and controlled environment ensuring the safety of your dog, as well as the safety of the rattlesnakes. The training process is repeated several times to assure that your dog will understand the sight, smell and sound of a rattlesnake (they have a distinctive odor that dogs can discern from other snakes).
Please allow about an hour for your session, which includes check-in, training, and check-out. This assures that proper attention is given to all dogs. (Typically, training itself for one dog takes about 20 minutes.)
Space is limited! Advanced payment of $75 per dog is required. You'll receive an email confirmation of your order. No refunds will be issued for cancellation received within one week of the event. A $7 change fee will be applied to any time or date changes in your reservation.
Time slot: Please note - training takes more than the 5 to 10 minute block you registered for. The 5 to 10 minute reservation block is for purposes of organizing check-in. Please allow an hour for the check-in, training, and check-out. Please do not arrive more than five minutes early before your alloted appointment time.
